2013 is the second year that I've made it a goal to read 26 books in a year.
There's a few advantages to this kind of challenge. There are times when a book is needed, and what gets picked up isn't a book that normally would get looked at.
Mr. Darcy, Vampire is one book that comes to mind as something picked up and tried because I needed the numbers. It ended up being an excellent read, very enjoyable.
At a friend's cottage I picked up The Adventures of Jerry Muskrat, a child's book published in 1943. It was light, fluffy, and wonderful cottage reading. The fact I could finish it in two days was icing on the cake.
I've read about bread making, a favourite hobby. I've gotten into young adult novels, some of which are really quite good. I've rediscovered Star Wars novels, and the Brother Cadfael series. My list of books is pretty diverse, and I've been very glad to be getting back into reading in a serious way.
I have a list of books to read, and a stack of books sitting on the shelf. There are always bookcases full of books to re-read if I choose as well.
It shouldn't be revolutionary or noteworthy to be reading. I used to read constantly until the last few years. Getting back into the habit is like other habits, though. It takes a bit of effort and a lot of reminders.
Until suddenly it doesn't.
Then the fun really begins.
