In a stunning last minute burst of reading, I have managed to accomplish my goal of reading 26 books in 2012. W00t!

NaNoWriMo #18: Not in Kansas

I picked up a book yesterday called "642 Things to Write About" to give me some prompts for future writing. In spite of the craziness of NaNoWriMo I have been enjoying writing again, and figured the book would be a good way to keep me going. One of the prompts was the first line of this story. The rest of it just sort of happened from there.

This brings me to 39109 words for the month.

NaNoWriMo #17: Blood Red Velvet

Many thanks to @drmarkkubert on Twitter for the idea for this story. It's definitely getting harder to come up with short story ideas at this pace, and his Tweet "The pillow that never was" twigged a bit of an idea.

NaNoWriMo #16: The Old Coffee Shop

The coffee shop had been standing for a very long time. It had somehow managed to avoid most of hte updates and upgrades that many other shops had seen over the years, too. Part of its charm and popularity came from the fact that it looked exactly the same as it had in the early days, back when coffee shops were popular gathering places, and coffee cost a lot less than a dollar.
