NaNoWrimo #20: Overheard

"That's where I hid the body."

NaNoWrimo #19: Priorities

Written yesterday morning, this post has been delayed by work and an internet outage in my area. It was inspired from a prompt in "642 Things to Write About".

NaNoWriMo #18: Not in Kansas

I picked up a book yesterday called "642 Things to Write About" to give me some prompts for future writing. In spite of the craziness of NaNoWriMo I have been enjoying writing again, and figured the book would be a good way to keep me going. One of the prompts was the first line of this story. The rest of it just sort of happened from there.

This brings me to 39109 words for the month.

NaNoWriMo #17: Blood Red Velvet

Many thanks to @drmarkkubert on Twitter for the idea for this story. It's definitely getting harder to come up with short story ideas at this pace, and his Tweet "The pillow that never was" twigged a bit of an idea.

This brings me up to 36573 words so far. Enjoy! :)

NaNoWriMo #16: The Old Coffee Shop

The coffee shop had been standing for a very long time. It had somehow managed to avoid most of hte updates and upgrades that many other shops had seen over the years, too. Part of its charm and popularity came from the fact that it looked exactly the same as it had in the early days, back when coffee shops were popular gathering places, and coffee cost a lot less than a dollar.

NaNoWriMo 15: Blue Skies

This is 29,509 words now down. Tomorrow, 30,000! :)

NaNoWriMo #14: Mail Call

This is a story I began writing last night. I finally finished it, and now I'm going to move on to today's story.

This brings me to 27,735 words so far.

NaNoWriMo #13: Marshmallows and Constellations

I was drawing a blank for tonight, and I got this prompt from @drjuliegill on Twitter.

It was enough to get me past the halfway mark... 25,779 words! Woohoo!

NaNoWriMo #12: The Chairs

A second short story today to try and make up some extra wordage. Definitely shorter than most I've written, but any extra words right now are good words.

NaNoWriMo #12: The Chairs

A second short story today to try and make up some extra wordage. Definitely shorter than most I've written, but any extra words right now are good words.

NaNoWriMo #11: All in the Delivery

Prompted by a  new plot generator I decided to try this morning. This takes me over 20000 words, and much closer to 25000. Which is good because the month is more than half over now...

NaNoWriMo Interlude: A short writing exercise

I've been using a Plot Generator page for inspiration on days I can't seem to find it otherwise. Today I hit the Writing Exercise section, wand what came up was:

Write a sixty word obituary of Mr. Darcy.

Here's my attempt at this.

Mr. Fitzwiliam Darcy was a man of noble character, and strict values. He believed deeply in friendship, faith, and class morals. These did change slightly upon meeting the former Miss Elizabeth Bennet, now Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy, widow. Their brief and tumultuous courtship resulted in the union to end all unions, a battle of wills that lasted for over forty years.

NaNoWriMo #10: A One Stoplight Town

My tenth NaNoWriMo! It even clocks in at slightly more than 2000 words to celebrate.

I'm now at 19, 866 words. Almost 20k. Almost.

NaNoWriMo 9: Mall Santa

Another prompt from the plot generator. Combine it with some social media chatter about the horrors of Christmas in November, and you get a story that isn't your typical Christmas tale.

I am now at a total of 17,493 words. I should be at 25,000. This weekend will involve me doing a lot of typing, I think.

NaNoWriMo #8: Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

I had my ASL final tonight. As I sat at the school waiting for the person I usually give a ride home to, I wrote this.

Somedays this happens in NaNoWriMo. That's all I'm going to say.

NaNoWriMo # 7: The Famous Fluffikins

I found this prompt from a First Line Generator page. Seriously, how could I not use a first line like this?

This puts me at 13,640 words to date. Only 2000 words per day to go!

NaNoWriMo #6: The Game

I haven't posted in several days. My uncle passed away last week, and I went home for the funeral. It's been a crazy several days, but I'm hoping I can still catch up in my NaNoWriMo word count; according to the site, I can success if I write 2119 words per day.

This isn't quite 2119 words, but it's a start. I'm now up to 11863 words total.

NaNoWriMo story #5 - The Obligatory Dinosaur Story

Because everything is better with dinosaurs.

And I'm keeping on track, I'm now at 10,088 words!

NaNoWriMo Story #4 - Grandma's Secret Recipe

For your enjoyment, here is a story about chicken. And rabbits. This brings me to 8252, or slightly behind schedule. I'll need to keep writing tonight to catch up.

NaNoWriMo Story #3: A Good Haircut

Catching up on my word count, here's a second story today. This idea cam from an idea generated by The Writer's Den Plotline Generator, which I decided to try for fun. The prompt was, "A poor lawyer ignores a beautiful hairdresser."

This brings my word count to 6385.

NaNoWriMo Story #2: Secret Drawer

I've gotten a bit behind on my posting. The fun with NaNoWriMo is trying to work the 50,000 words in around real life, and sometimes real life wins. I'm going to work to catch up on my postings, but in the meantime, here's story number 2: Secret Drawer. This brings my word count, including some failed writing attempts, up to 4589.

As an aside, the NY Times article from 1888 is real. This and a photo of a staircase of drawers inspired this story.

NaNoWriMo Story #1 - Patterns

Here's the first of the NaNoWriMo stories for November, based on an idea by @drjuliegill over on Twitter. Remember, the point is to write, not to edit. I hope it is an enjoyable piece, regardless.
